Stop Getting Embarrassed — Start Being YOU

Homer Skelton Ford's Blog | Stop Getting Embarrassed — Start Being YOU

Somewhere along the way, people started acting like being yourself is something to be embarrassed about.

Too loud? Embarrassing.

Too excited? Embarrassing.

Too country? Too weird? Too much?

Embarrassing.

And I’m just gonna say it… that’s the biggest lie ever sold.

Because the same things you’re overthinking at night?

Those are the exact things that make people remember you.

I used to catch myself shrinking in certain situations.

Like… “don’t laugh too loud,”

“don’t say that,”

“don’t be too much.”

But who decided what “too much” even is?

Because last time I checked, the people who actually go somewhere in life…

the ones with personality, energy, and presence…

they’re not sitting around trying to be less.

They’re being MORE.

Here’s the truth nobody says out loud:

People aren’t judging you nearly as much as you think.

And the ones that are?

They’re usually the ones too scared to be themselves.

There is something powerful about walking into a room and being unapologetically you.

Not fake confident.

Not trying to impress everybody.

Just real.

Laugh when something’s funny.

Talk how you talk.

Dress how you like.

Be excited. Be goofy. Be bold.

Because the right people?

They don’t cringe at you.

They connect with you.

And let’s be honest for a second…

The most “embarrassing” people are usually the most memorable.

The ones dancing when nobody else is,

the ones joking around,

the ones not afraid to look a little silly.

Meanwhile, the people trying to look perfect?

They blend in.

You weren’t built to blend in.

You were built to stand out, make people laugh, make people feel something, and leave a mark.

So why are you holding yourself back just to fit into a version of you that isn’t even real?

At the end of the day, confidence isn’t about being flawless.

It’s about being comfortable.

Comfortable in your laugh.

Comfortable in your personality.

Comfortable taking up space.

So next time you feel that little voice creeping in saying

“that’s embarrassing…”

Do it anyway.

Because one day you’ll realize…

The only thing that was ever actually embarrassing

was not being yourself.
