Somewhere along the way, we all got tricked into thinking life is supposed to be perfect.
The perfect job. The perfect relationship. The perfect house. The perfect plan.
But the truth is, life is messy.
You oversleep. Your truck breaks down. The camper leaks. The dog chews something it shouldn’t. You spill your coffee on the way to work. You make a mistake. Somebody says something that rubs you the wrong way.
And you know what?
The sun still comes up tomorrow.
I’ve learned that most things aren’t nearly as serious as we make them out to be. Five years from now, most of the things stressing us out today won’t even matter. Half the stuff we lose sleep over won’t even cross our minds.
So why not laugh?
Laugh when you take a wrong turn.
Laugh when you trip over your own feet.
Laugh when life throws you a curveball.
Laugh when everything goes completely sideways.
Not because the problems aren’t real, but because life is a whole lot easier when you stop letting every little thing steal your peace.
Some of my favorite memories weren’t the perfect moments. They were the disasters. The road trips that went wrong. The embarrassing stories. The times everyone was crying from laughing so hard.
Those are the moments that stick.
Life is short. Way too short to spend every day stressed, angry, offended, or worried about things you can’t control.
Work hard. Love your people. Chase your dreams. But don’t forget to enjoy the ride.
At the end of the day, we’re all just figuring it out as we go.
So smile a little more.
Laugh a little louder.
Take a few more chances.
And remember:
Nothing’s that serious. We’re all just trying to make it home in one piece with a few good stories to tell along the way.
