We are pleased to announce that West Herr has completed the purchase of East Syracuse Chevrolet in Syracuse New York owned by Gino Barbuto. East Syracuse Chevrolet, a member of the West Herr Automotive Group is now open for business located at One Chevy Drive in East Syracuse.

East Syracuse Chevrolet has been in business for 82 years and is the largest Chevrolet dealership/Collision Center in Syracuse, with Chevrolet being the highest volume manufacturer in that area. This will be the 32nd location for our group, as well as our fourth Chevrolet dealership location.

The General Motors Image Chevrolet facility will have 95 employees and is projected to sell a combined total of 3,000 new and used vehicles per year.  We are proud to continue the tradition of representing one of the strongest brands in the industry. This is our first dealership in the Syracuse area, and West Herr has 8 dealerships in the Rochester market. Michael Daeschner will be the General Manager, and Becky Boyle will be the Assistant General Manager.

Scott Bieler, President & CEO of the West Herr Automotive Group expressed that, “We are excited to enter the Syracuse market, and feel that it is a great opportunity for the continued growth of West Herr.  Acquiring the #1 Chevrolet dealership in the market, also one of the largest dealerships of any brand in that market, along with a state-of-the-art collision center and the Chevrolet medium duty franchise is very exciting.  In the future, we plan to hopefully grow our footprint by acquiring additional stores in the Syracuse market. We are proud to carry on the quality sales and service experience that Gino Barbuto and his team provided to the community for many years, and will use what they have built as a foundation for future growth.”

Gino Barbuto, Dealer Principal commented that, “This decision was not easy and it’s bittersweet for me after being here 35 years. I am comfortable that West Herr is the right group for my employees and the community at this time. I know they will do a great job, and continue the success we’ve had. I would like to thank the community for their support all these years. It’s been a blessing to serve the community.”

West Herr, which was founded in 1950, started as a single point Ford Dealership in Hamburg, New York, and is the largest automotive group in New York State. Since 1950, West Herr has sold over 1,200,000 vehicles. With 32 locations in Erie, Niagara, Monroe and Ontario counties representing 23 franchises and 2,416 employees.  In 2021, West Herr will sell nearly 60,000 vehicles and service more than 470,000 vehicles.  West Herr has received Business First of Buffalo’s “Best Places to Work in WNY” award for 17 consecutive years and the Better Business Bureau “Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics” 8 times.
